Hunters Headquarters first started as Southern States Enterprises in 1983 by Joe Romanoli at 580 Bypass 72 W. Ownership changed in May of 1987 to Barry Gray and the name was changed to Trader B’s Outdoor Sports. In February of 1992 ownership changed again as it was purchased by Dale Carwile and Robert Williams and managed by A.L. Lee. At this time the store name became Trader B’s Hunters Headquarters. Dale and Robert quickly outgrew the location and moved down the road in July of 1993 to 560 Bypass 72 W and renamed the business Hunters Headquarters. It was in August of 2002 when George Harris purchased the business but maintained the name and business location as Dale had developed a solid business with a dependable reputation. Business thrived there to the point that more floor space became inevitable. The search for a bigger location with expansion capabilities was on. The perfect spot turned out to be an 8-acre tract on Calhoun Road across the street from the Greenwood Mills Harris Plant which was named in honor of J.B. Harris, Sr. (George’s Grandfather). Grading and construction were completed in Summer of 2012 and the current store opened August 27, 2012.
